Farewell Dear Throttle Jockey
Aug 20th, 2008 by Leo
Just a quick note: Most of you probably know already that Sue Carpenter’s motorcycle section in the LA Times has been axed… We used to link to this on the old citybiker site. I noticed this a couple of weeks ago when I went to go check on new articles, but couldn’t find the section! Fortunately the old articles can still be found here: http://www.latimes.com/throttlejockey
You can also read about a couple of motorcycle bloggers who interviewed Sue Carpenter: Motorcycle Misadventures, and a pre-axe interview with Mid-Life Rider…and let’s not forget Helmet Hair (from whom I lifted the photo…sorry HH I’m feeling lazy).
Sue Carpenter will still be writing, and riding motorcycles, just not writing about riding motorcycles…for the LA Times anyway. So farewell (for now) and thanks for all the great reviews and tips!
I didn’t always agree with her opinions, but I did appreciate the fact that the L.A. Times was brave enough to run a motorcycle-specific section, and with video no less. The fact that is was a smart woman who rides running the show was welcome as well. It would have been DOA with just another “dude” talking about HP, torque and “motorcycles with soul”. Bleh.
Good luck to ya, Susan. Sorry Sam Zell f***ed the Times and you got taken out by the shockwave.
