My Morning Commute
Aug 29th, 2008 by Leo
Speaking of real world riding skills (see previous post), here’s a video of my morning commute… yeah right! I’ve seen this on YouTube a couple of times. Often the response includes some outrage over how aggressively he’s riding through traffic. And he is pretty aggressive. But at the same time, he seems to have a really good sense of how to read traffic… Is it just me? Because this does look a little like my morning commute (minus all the wheelies).
Is this guy a gifted city biker in a rush OR some jerk going way too fast on city streets? Or both? You decide. Either way ride safe! It looks like the weather might still be nice this weekend!

Both. One can ride both aggressively and skillfully and not endanger pedestrians or run red lights. I don’t disagree that this guy can read traffic, but running pedestrians off the street is going too far to me. That said, it might inspire my morning ride down Franklin between Market and Bay (SF).
My heart is in the throat watching that. I don’t see how he’s “reading” anything. It’s the mercy of the other riders, pedestrians and cagers on the road that he’s not killed.
But, my sense IS that the rider doesn’t have a family or kids.
I expecially like the frequent squeal of breaks and tires locking up. In Part II to you get to see him high-side into a bus?
Ha! If the comments were in picture form it might look like one of those diagrams of evolution – all the way on the left is the guy going “yeah ghost rider!” and all the way on the right is the guy going “tsk tsk so irresponsible!”
