Hey Pete,

Where to park for the winter? You can ride all winter in NY. Ha, but if that's just not practical, you have a couple of options... [1] Look for a garage in your neighborhood on Craigslist. [2] Or rent a space from a storage facility... There are a few close to Manhattan and near the subway in Queens, Brooklyn, and some in Manhattan (on the West Side) and Harlem around 125th.

The prices vary by season and size of the space. If you can find a couple of other bikers to go in together, you can get a bigger room and split the bill for cheaper. I went to one near the 7-train in Queens once just to ask and at the time they wanted $175/mo for a closet that looked like it could fit 2 maybe 3 bikes. But the prices aren't printed anywhere, so it changes a lot.

For scooters, the same applies - but one thing no one seems to think about is - smaller scooters can be rolled right into your apartment (if you have a the space). Makes for a nice conversation piece.

I've got a season-related question...this is my first year having a bike in NYC, anyone have suggestions for winter storage facilities?

I couldn't make it to the “Color in the Catskills” rally, but it sounded awesome. I did zoom up into CT this weekend in search of colors, but didn't find much. I'll have to try again next weekend!

Living in VT the fall is pretty nice, but can get chilly. You need to look out for the leaf peeping cagers as well. This being said you got to love the colors and that fall smell.

Welcome back....your updates were missed. This is THE best time of year to ride here in the northeast.

This weekend is the first annual "Color in the Catskills" rally. It is at Hunter Mountain and the Oktoberfest beer celebration is happening at the same time. It is open to all bike makes and is FREE. Can't think of a better two hour ride from NYC for the weekend. Take advantage!
