Here’s an old (but still relevant) video in honor of Green Week. This is Susan Carpenter and an all electric R1. I was thinking of posting this video also (click) or this one (click click) because part of the fun of electrics is being able to do it yourself…electric motors are a lot simpler to work with from a design perspective… BUT the thought of having lead acid batteries between my legs made me reconsider. Lithium is the way to go for batteries, but they’re still a long way from being affordable. If I were in the market for an electric commuter, I’d definitely check out Electric Motorsport. They have a reasonably priced lineup… although if I wanted the performance of an Ninja 250, I’d go with the 70mpg gas version – but if I needed an electric, I’d pony up twice the price for one of theirs.
