Jackets for Summer ‘09
May 8th, 2009 by Leo

In the past serious bikers always went straight for the leather because of its superior abrasion resistance and protection, but no longer has to be the case. The material in some textile jackets have even better abrasion resistance than leather, and the ones that don’t still hold up well enough for street legal speeds and a day of cruising. The advantage of the textile jackets is that they are both MUCH lighter and much cooler (temperature wise).
So here are a couple of plain black jackets to get you thinking, if you’re in a position to jump start the economy a little I say go for it, the sales aren’t going to get much better.

The Dainese Horizon Textile Jacket

As always, you regulars know I don’t work for any of these companies or stores. I just happened to be thinking about getting a plain black textile jacket for around town… The Dainese is definitely the flashiest looking of them, but it’s also the one with the best abrasion resistance… I like the way the Corsair and the Rev’IT are so low key. And the Corsair is on closeout.
If you see any good online sales around, share the wealth and post a link… For the most part we don’t take links from vendors, but if you’re a reader and see something good, feel free to pass it on. Cheers!
