A different kind of track bike…

Imagine going to the track and catching up to this in the corner… Wait, is that a…? Who let a scooter on the track? Except you won’t be saying that for long because with a capable rider this TMax can keep up with sportbikes. The folks who race scooters think this is the future, 500cc maxi-scooters with 15 inch rims and better weight distribution than any sportbike, you can race these things with almost no modifications (other than better tires and brakes). But if this is ever going to catch on in the U.S. the first thing they need to do is come up with a better category name. Guys don’t want to go somewhere and buy a “maxi” anything. But the name aside, the T-Max is a pretty cool ride, with quick turn-in, but with a very functional side to it. For a guided tour intro to Scooter racing in Italy, click here. I have to say I love the Tmax! I love it so much that I own one (banana yellow, LOL)~
It’s a great scooter, its practicality and functionality is great for the city.
Unfortunately, I don’t think American people will catch on to the scooters. Most of them don’t consider scooters “real” motorcycles, and they don’t think scooters are as powerful as the “clutch and shift” motorcycles. But then again, I don’t know what do you need all that power for; how much power do we need for street riding?
