Car v. Bike (take 537)

Yes, I know it’s a pointless bet. And there are some on YouTube where the car actually wins (against an R1) by a slight margin. But I like these challenges nonetheless… The MCN guy mentions (at the end) that when you’re in the Scuderia going around the track, it feels so fast that you can’t imagine a bike beating it. It’s an interesting point because going ridiculously fast on a bike never quite FEELS ridiculously fast. You never feel thrown around on a bike the way you would in a car…
Anyway so here’s a question for you – if you had a rich uncle who insisted you drive a season of his last-place Formula 1 team, or MotoGP bike, which would you choose?
I just can’t get excited about driving a car fast anymore. After a year without a car, I finally got one again. I’ve taken it to a lot of my favorite motorcycle twisties, and it’s not even a shadow of the fun of my motorcycle.
If I have to do one or the other it would be F1. For me it would be safer. Plus I’m more likely to finish a lap, less likely to totally destroy the vehicle, and a better car racer than bike racer.
I’d have to say that after riding as much as I have, getting in a car is just plain boring no matter how fast you drive or how many G’s you pull in the corners! I am talking about driving the same mountain roads I ride my bike on, but in an Acura NSX – it still doesn’t cut it for the fun factor. I would have to choose MotoGP – though have never ridden a bike on the track. Anyone else suffer from this same disease?
If I had a rich uncle who trusted me and my mediocre skills to either and F1 car or a MotoGP bike, he’d be on of the stupidest men on the planet. Not to say I wouldn’t give either a serious try.
