A good ride…

This is exactly like my typical ride around the city…if I lived in Paris, and if you were to watch one of my rides in fast forward, and edit out all the parts where I get stuck behind a cab making a left turn from the right lane, or picking up passengers. But seriously, the spirit of the video is exactly like a good ride on a good day.
Now I know this is, like, ridiculously ludicrously insanely, fast but if you can look past that there’s a relaxed quality to this… A better word is flow. The transitions in speed, the way each car is overtaken, there’s a relaxed tempo to it – in a sped up caffeinated sort of way. It’s not fearful or frustrated, but free. And that’s what really makes a good ride. You can be averaging 10 mph – or ZZZ mph (I won’t encourage you), the number really doesn’t matter considering you’ll end up in the same place anyway.
If you’re curious about the video, so am I! All I know is he went by Black Prince, this is one of the first ride videos (early 80s?), and he inspired some people to make a career out of doing the same.

The black prince was a master rider and a man thinking ahead of his time. The Ghost Rider did the same lap in 9 minutes, but he did it in 9 minutes. What makes the comparison that much better is that Ghost Rider did it in the middle of the night (no traffic) on a modern bike. The Black Prince did it in 11 minutes in 1970s technology (50 hp superbike with bias ply tires?) in the middle of the day in heavy traffic. Thats balls.
