Monday morning moto “swimsuit edition”…

From the clever folks at Gizmag!
Ducati is brilliant at making pretty (and fast!) bikes…and at marketing. For the past few years they have been marketing themselves as the “underdog” in the sportbike realm… ‘Whereas Honda and Yamaha have all this money for R&D, poor little Ducati had to keep up on a shoestring budget.’ Yes, they’re practically a scrappy startup in the sportbike world… Yeah – right! That’s like saying Ferrari an the underdog next to GM’s Corvette – or McLarens and Bugatti’s are underdogs next to BMW’s… No, I don’t think Ducati is an underdog. But with their brilliant Italian love for racing and sense of style they’ve built a motorcycle company centered on their supersports (whereas Honda made its name on its indestructible 50cc Cub).
Anyway the 1198 is the swimsuit supermodel of sportbikes… But I often feel sorry for the Ducatisti on great roads – they’re afraid to really let her rip… Do you know what a busted turn signal would cost on an 1198? It’s like marrying a supermodel – only now you can never take her to a movie, or eat fast food, or go anywhere, or do anything…unless it’s equally chic. Which is why the only Ducatis you see on the streets around NY tend to be old beat up Monsters.

I resent that, my Monster may not be a supermodel but she’s at least the hot chick in school.
