Quickest flight around the Ring
Jun 7th, 2012 by CityBiker1
Okay this is recent, and other motorcycle blogs have beat me to linking this video – so usually I wouldn’t bother – but this “fast lap” video has a pretty cool story to it… You can read more about it here. What’s cool is this record setting bike is a used 2005 R1. It was bought used as a crashed bike and is mostly stock. It doesn’t have special titanium pistons or a turbo charger. Instead, the main go-fast part is the rider. He knows the track better than most people who ride the Nurburgring, and he knows how to ride a performance motorcycle, and it’s this knowledge and experience that enable him to go faster than any person in any public open track section of Nurburgring, ever. That highlights part of what I love about bikes… it’s not about special parts or gear or brand of bike, those things matter but what matters way more is “you” the rider and what you know.
