Women who ride…

Motorcycling (as a competitive sport) is interesting because, as Laia Sainz says in her interview: “it’s more about skill than strength…” and women aren’t necessarily at a disadvantage. We will probably never have a female quarterback – men and women are just built differently. And as pepe le pew would say “Viva la difference!” [...]

You ride like a 16 yr old girl…

If someone said that to you, and the girl they were talking about was Elena Myers, then that would be a compliment…because this girl can fly!
After you get over the novelty of how old she is (actually most of the racers starting out in AMA are a similar age), this is a pretty good track [...]

It’s amazing how pretty and warm a cold day through a not-particularly pretty part of Flushing can appear… It’s a snow day here, so I thought I’d try out some video editing freeware from Pinnacle, and splice together some video from my Monday afternoon commute… along with a soundtrack from Yann Tiersen.

DIY Bodywork…

This is the Ion electric sportbike… And I believe it’s the senior project of a college design major Tom Miceli..  Nice job!  The fact that it’s electric is interesting and gets him points with the treehugger crowd, but what’s really interesting to me is that the bike’s custom fiber glass fairings actually look good. Gratuitous Triumph advertisement…

The best of both worlds?

I never noticed supermotos until a couple of years ago when I first saw Ducati’s Hypermotard…then I started to notice more DIY supermoto’s dirt bikes with road bike 17″ rims and sport bike tires. Although I was skeptical at first, today I think they’re brilliant. But do they make the best city [...]

A practical city motorcycle…

We’re hunkering down for another snow storm here in NY, and one of the practical things about 250’s is…not only are they cheaper to buy and maintain, not only are they great on gas mileage, but they’re also great in the snow. You can learn things riding a smaller motorcycle that you will never [...]

Puma and Ducati

Most people don’t realize Puma makes motorcycle gear. And although the Puma store in Union Square had a Monster 696 in the window at one point, I don’t think they actually sold anything other than Ducati branded clothing… right next to their Ferrari branded clothing… which was really cool when I was like 11.
From [...]

TTXGP Documentary Trailer

You might have seen this already, but I thought it was cool…  From the director of the classic MotoGP documentary “Faster”… a documentary of the TTXGP from the Isle of Man last year…
